The Eagle Has Landed

We picked up B-dubs yesterday. As far as pick ups go, it was incredibly uneventful. We showed up, handed over our final checks, and walked off with two giant handfuls of puppy. B-dubs has doubled in size since we last saw him, and is now capable of remaining awake for up to half an hour at a time, which is a significant improvement over the five minutes we had when we went to pick him out.

On the ride home, our champion puppy whined ONCE. Then he chewed on my fingers and requested to be put on the floor of the truck, where he promptly fell asleep for the entire ride home.

Since he’s been home, he’s been awake and stealing hearts for about an hour, and asleep in his crate (which he loves) for about four hours. He likes his monkey. He likes his ball. He is not really so sure about his bacon flavored bone unless I am holding it.

I can only assume that there are evolutionary reasons he is being so angelic on his first day home, since I know that things will get worse from here. But man, is he ever cute.

Puppy Swag

We decided to hit Petsmart on our way back from Leesburg because that was the last time we’ll be in town before we pick up the pup. He’s going to be one spoiled puppy. Is it too obvious that we’re first time dog owners?

B-Dubs Pick Out Adventure with Video and Pictures

Last night Jenny and I went out to Gap View Ranch and Kennel to pick out our 4 week old puppy, Bruce Wayne. We’ve been able to pick out his parents at our first visit, see him just after being born on our second visit, and now it was time to pick our pup.

We had our choice of the 5 males in the litter and I’ve never made a more tough choice. It took us 90 minutes to decide. We had to end up each taking one puppy, loving on it for a few minutes, then swapping for each other’s puppy. Once we decided between those two, we’d put one back. During the course of this, one of the little guys decided that taking a nap on my shoe was a good idea.

We got down to the final two and could not possibly make a decision. Jenny walked to the other side of the pen and called to the pups. The first one who ran to Jenny with his tail wagging was our pick for B-Dubs. We spent some time loving on him and getting pictures, real bonding time, then left him with the litter. We’ll be back to pick him up on Father’s Day, June 21st at 11am. We’re both incredibly excited.

A big thank you goes out to Dave and Anne at Gap View for making this process so incredibly easy. They truly do run an amazing kennel and I know they work their fingers to the bone.

We assembled some video and pictures for you of the event.
