Top 29 Songs of 2009
Dec 22nd
A part of my life that really lives in the shadows is something I used to do in college. During my first year at UVA I had a bit of cash left over from selling my first car and decided to put that towards starting up as a DJ. I played for a good number of parties, UVA organizations, the UVA football team and even a wedding. The time came though to sell all of that and put the focus back on school. Now though, I want back in!
Thanks to a push from Jenny and my friends, I’m now officially a DJ again. To celebrate, I made this mix of my top 29 songs from 2009. More >
Hip-Hop Highlights New Music Releases Today
Sep 15th
In the big releases of new music today the standouts are certainly in the Hip-Hop family. I wanted to highlight Jay-Z’s new album The Blueprint 3. There are some great tracks on there including “Empire State of Mind”, “D.O.A.” and “Run This Town”
Also, if you’re in the mood for more Hip-Hop, Kid CuDi’s album is finally out Man on the Moon: The End of Day. You’ll know him from his singles “Dan N’ Night” and “Make Her Say”.
I know not all of you reading this are into Hip Hop and I’ve just recently found out that I have two sides of me the “DJ’ing and Partying” side and the “Acoustic Pop, Teenage Rock” side. So for those people who have different sides like me, feel free to check out Nelly Furtado’s Mi Plan and Thursday’s Common Existence
.
As an added bonus I’m throwing in a new artist that I have been cranking the past week or so. Check out Eric Hutchinson’s Sounds Like This and listen to “OK, It’s Alright With Me”
Live Karaoke: Sublime – “What I Got”
Jun 19th
A few of us went out to Fellini’s on the Charlottesville Downtown mall and did Live Karaoke with a band. I decided it would be a good idea to try “What I Got” by Sublime. Sure am glad I had friends there to back me up (and to cover up my singing). Sorry in advance for the language.
