Welcome back to my pursuit for the best online fitness site. Just joining us? You can view the past entries here:
Day 1 – MyFitnessJournal.com
Day 2- Trainingpeaks.com
Day 3 – DailyMile.com
Day 4 – Calorie Count
Day 5 – Gyminee.com

So here it is, the site that incorporates all of the elements I was looking for at the beginning of my search

Gyminee.com – I was about to settle on Calorie Count until I found this site. Gyminee offers EXACTLY what I’m looking for in an online fitness site. You can check out my profile to get an idea of what it can do. Gyminee homeThere’s a simple way to track your progress in all sorts of workouts from weight work, running, biking, swimming and they even list ultimate frisbee. You can create your own workouts to follow or select from hundreds of workouts others have posted. If you would rather mix and match exercises, they have listed hundreds of them spanning each muscle group complete with video tutorials for most of them. gyminee workoutThe nutrition tracker part of the site is great too because it starts you off with a ball park number of what you should intake per day based on a few questions. Then it makes it incredibly easy to enter in the food you eat during the day while instantly updating your daily goal and displaying it all in a simple to read graph or pie chart. It has a database of over 100,000 food items and recipes that it has complete nutritional data for and fills in everything for you. It’s extremely easy to use, I can’t stress that enough. The interface is fantastic.gyminee nutrition

The motivation and social network part of this site is what i think puts this above the rest. There’s a whole community on the site that will push you to exercise and complete your goals by leaving you motivation directly on your home page. Positive reinforcement is key when starting and maintaining a fitness program and this site provides plenty of that. You can join up with challenges and compete against the whole web or join a group from your local community to find new workout partners that the site calls GymBuddies (add me as your buddy!).

Another big thing that sold me on this site was that they provide a way to make it portable for you so your not stuck in front of a computer. The site allows you to print out workout routines to take with you to the gym and fill in. For those of you with an iPhone, you’ll be happy to know that they have a phenomenal web app available at the moment with plans in motion for a native application.

I know I promised you a surprise on the final day to jump start your workout routine so here it is: As I’ve stressed before, I think the best way to stay motivated in a fitness routine is positive motivation and being held accountable by someone else. The groups feature of Gyminee makes this super easy so I took it upon myself to create a Charlottesville, VA group that I invite all of you in town to join who’d like to get motivated and inspired to keep up a routine. For those of you who may not be local, I also created a group to include you (here). Join one of these groups and we will all keep each other motivated to keep up a fitness routine. Also, there’s one more surprise. If you’re ready to hit the gym and get in some weight work but really don’t know where to start, I’ve made a workout that is super easy to follow and will give you amazing, full body results. You can subscribe to my workout here and follow along with us. I hope that by using these resources I’ve provided, you’ll be able to meet your goals and love your new, fit lifestyle. By the way, I’m sorry to say that Jenny Leigh Cupcakes, although still delicious, are not endorsed by this plan…sorry.

So there is it, 5 sites in 5 days that I think will help you become beach ready by Memorial Day. I really hope these come in handy for you and I’m curious to know if there are any other sites on the web that I may have missed. I’d love to hear your experiences with these sites as well. I’ll see you on Gyminee!
